The central region stretches from Myanmar on the west, to Cambodia in the east. The area was the heartland of the ancient Dvaravati and Ayutthaya kingdoms. Excluding Bangkok City and Greater Bangkok the provinces are:

 

Sub-Central Thailand:

Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Chainat, Lopburi, Nakhon Nayok, Saraburi, Sing Buri.

 

Western Thailand:

Kanchanaburi, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Suphanburi.

 

Eastern Thailand:

Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Chonburi, Prachinburi, Rayong, Sa Kaeo, Trat.
